Hearty Winner!


As promised, a picture of my beautiful heart from the very talented Cathy at Potter Jotter. I was very lucky to be one of her giveaway winners. Her potting has been blogged very nicely over at Textile Treasury

My knitting is progressing nicely, partly thanks to the awful weather that keeps folk indoors!


It is looking good.... I need to have it finished for when my daughter returns from South Africa in August!

And now, the little quilt I was making last week- now bound and finished:




Bindings are improving- I need to become a little more adventurous in my machine quilting now that I have got a little more confidence! ( until I look at some of the amazing quilts around on the blogs) . I am always being inspired and have become slightly addicted to Pinterest as it means that I dont have to rely on memory so much!I can jsut pin things I love and go and browse for inspiration! 

And finally- a play mat/quilt that I am hoping to finish this week- I plan on doing some hand quilting on this one!


Its back to work for me ....

    Love the binding on your quilt, and the fabrics are soooooooo juicy, I think I've said it before!
    On the subject of machine quilting beyond the basic straight-lines, can I recommend a couple of books that I've used over and over? A really good basic one is Machine Quilting - Made Easy by Maurine Noble pub That Patchwork Place , and tow books by Hari Walner: Exploring Machine Trapunto and Trapunto by Machine both C&T publishing. Now trapunto is where you pad shapes and surround by machine quiting - it really gives a fabulous effect. Not difficult, just a bit extra work than straightforward quilting. Check it out online I'm sure if you google you will find heaps. I loved doing the very fancy machine quilting ....er....some years ago when I could be bothered wrestling with a large double quilt under my sewing machine. But you don't have to do a massive quilt, do you? Good luck, it looks beautiful, and well worth the effort.

    I am not a quilter but for what it's worth - your little quilt looks quite stunning - greens and pinks always work well together. Love the little heart in amongst some other hearty friends! xCathy
