Beach Hut Open and a winner!!

At last the summer seems to have arrived, brought back from Crete by the lovely Cathy  of potter jotter, and the best news that I won one of her beautiful hearts in her giveaway! I will let you see it when I get it!

Meanwhile, the beach hut is officially open for the summer- better late than never eh?

The clock is at 6.45 because I keep forgetting
 to take new batteries down!

No swimming today, but at least I had 4 wonderful hours in the sun, with the beach almost to myself!

Back soon.xx

Summer is a comin in!

The tree fern is unfurling.............

This orchid on my kitchen window sill is beautiful.....

My latest hand pieced spring carnival appliqued onto a cushion top.

Well, I think its a cushion top but it may turn into something else....

I am totally dithering about what to do next! I bought a few stash fabrics on Saturday, a couple of which I have earmarked for  a kids play mat,  which is unfinished along with sooooo many other bits and pieces!

And if this weather continues the sewing is going to take 2nd place to the beach!

Saturday sojourn

I decided to take a trip out to North Hampshire area today, to start to get the best use out of my National Trust membership- the rapeseed fields are so vibrant at the moment- these are on the on the South Downs.

I went via Arlesford and Alton to Hinton Ampner, a georgian house which was restored after fire damage.

This old pieced quilt was on the bed in the master bedroom
Outside, the fields were full of sheep!

I am going to have a relaxing evening- the last 2 parts of the Bridge are on tonight!
Planning my small quilt with my echino stash- here's a rough layout....

What do you think??

Just had to make oe of these handpieced ferris wheels after being inspired by a member of Katys flickr group! Katy over at im a ginger monkey provided a briliant set of templates for the pattern-spring carnival,

so thank you Katy!I think I may make this one into  wall hanging when I square it off. I am keen to do another one using completely different fabrics for a different effect-do look at Katys website and see for yourself!

You must pop over to Catherine at Potter Jotter, who is coming up to her 2nd blogger birthday and celebrating with a wonderful giveaway of a piece of her stunning pottery! Her work is amazing and is going on sale at some National Trust properties- what a clever girl!I am sincerely hoping to win this ittle giveaway!

High achiever!

Tidy house, tidy garden, tidy mind!- I am finally ahead of the chores and the to do list! So after an early trip to the dump, where I purchased six patchwork magazines from the 1990s, for £1,  I had a lazy couple of hours in the garden with the birds.

I then took a little trip to the nearby town where I browsed the charity shops and found a few good books- mainly about travel.........

as you can tell, I am still very much in Japanese mind set!

both of these countries are on my trip list.....

Then , I came cross this ittle gem in the Oxfam book shop:

Dating from the 40s or 50s, sadly I cant find a date inside, it is full of wonderful patterns which I may never make!

I love the idea of the cardigan for older woman now that I am one! but not at all sure about the Dutch Cap??????I had no idea you could knit a contraceptive!!!!

Well, thrilled with my purchases, I can feel a lot of reading coming on!
In June I have an invitation to a friends art Show- here is the flyer, she is a wonderful lady, very inspiring! Anyone is welcome!

And finally, my latest handpieced project is underway and looking good_

Have a great weekend folks!

De-cluttering-- de-lovely,delightful!

Thank goodness for a wet weekend! It made me knuckle downand declutter the house, the fabric stash, the bathroom and the bedroom! Not until I did a little retail therapy with my daughter Sarah of goldfinch and eagle in Chichester though.......

The pallette colection is a panel of several pictures which I plan to use in a quilt inspired by one I saw at the eternal maker. If you get a chance to visit this shop do leave at least an hour or two if you want to look at everything!

Now the house is decluttered I can get to work on a few new projects- the kids quilt is the first to get underway- watch for an update! The text fabric is for a handpieced project based on the cusion using a pattern from  Katy at  I'm a ginger monkey.

Now I can go back to work tomorrow with a decluttered mind as well!
