WIP

Finally summoned up the courage to cut into the jelly roll that has been in my stash for a long time- Kate Spains "Good Fortune".

I got the pattern from  Missouri star quilt company video on You tube- I think it was the 3 dudes jelly roll quilt- very easy to do but my one concern is that when ever I cut on the cross I tend to get some stretching when I piece it together- is that normal and how does one overcome it?? I think I will edge this small quilt with squares cut from the same blocks , and possibly some sashing.

Meanwhile, the other project that is almost complete but which I think I am going to expand a little is the EPP union jack from the Hex-a-go go book by Tacha Bruecher.

This is going to be a wall hanging I think- mind you I am going to have trouble finding a space for it!!
It has a way to go yet, with a border and backing .
Sewing will be on hold shortly while I take a trip to Egypt to have a peek at the pyramids.

  2. Particularly love the look of your Union Jack, Heather. You can avoid the bias stretch by stitching before cutting, I did have a book about these sorts of tips but have given it away ages ago. I think it was called The QUilter's Workbook and was written by the people who run The Quilt Room. A quicker way would probably be to search on youtube! I'm always amazed at the myriad things you can find an answer to on here!
Enjoy your holiday, lots of photos on your next post?

  3. Love your Union Jack. I've seen a similar Stars & Stripes done with tiny tumblers and it was pretty amazing too. Nicely done. Fun, aren't they?
