Stormy shores.....

I am sure you may remember I have a beach hut at Milford on sea, and luckily I still have it! The same cannot be said for many other owners following the Valentine nights storm which stranded 32 diners in a seafront restaurant, wrote off their cars and spewed shingle hundreds of yards onto the roads. I wen down to check on it today and saw the absolute devastation which has changed the shore line forever- that said, it doesnt compare to the poor folk who are suffering severe flooding and loss of homes.

Sad times....

on a brighter note- I have been sewing a few odds and ends quilt wise!

3 charity shop finds to fuel my Kaffe obsession...

A haphazard quilt using all my scraps- kindly put on by a My Poppet- I love the way it turned out, just needs backing and quilting.

Here comes my liberty obsession.... a few pin cushions to brighten up the place!

A little rag rug sampler I made at a workshop down at the Timeless treasures fabric shop In Milford- the same place that had the storm! I enjoyed the cutting up of tee shirts and the process, but not sure if I will be taking it up in depth!

Liberty musings....

A simple 4'squares quilt top- pre stitching, will post the finished article when I have doen it.

My latest obsession- reusing mens shirts , in particular stripey patterns to have a go at Kaffes shirt quilt.

The leftovers are in 5"strips ready for an improv quilt. Looking forward to the hand quilting that is perfect for these type of quilts.

And finally- I had a brilliant night with dinner and breakfast included at the Donnington Valley Hotel and Spa- coutesy of my sister who had a freebie as a gold member.

Our room was lovely, the bathroom lush and the food excellent. the spa was very relaxing, especially after a bottle of bubbly!

Must not leave so much time before my next blog...

Made by my daughter....

GFor my 60th, my daughter  aka goldfinch and eagle made me the most fantastic Kaffe fasset quikt in my favourite colours- it is so beautiful!

She put so much time and  love into the quilt, I will treasure it forever! It will certainly be an heirloom!

One of my patients, who happens to be a local artist, knowing my love of Hawaii, gave me one of her paintings of the big waves on the North Shore- it is really lovely, and will remind me of all my holidays there!

And where am I going next? heres a clue....

Christmas blog not!

Not doing Christmas this year, off to Hawaii to celebrate my big Birthday- thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
Many apologies for abandonng the blog for some time- dads been poorly, work has been manic in the run up to the holidays, and only a small amount of sewing has been achieved.
That said, here is what I have managed to squeeze in-

My frend Susie, the best car booter on the planet, bought a bindle of precit fabric squares for a mere pound! With the addition of 2 cheap thrift pillow cases for the back, I turned it into this cute baby quilt

This Kate Spain xmas jelly roll had needed using for a while, so I did a bit of scrappy tripping around the world to refresh my memory of the process , and added some log cabin strips. This was backed by a tarton duvet cover- slight issue with the stretching of the fabric slightly , so for a tablecloth it doesnt sit quite flat!

Experimented with the scraps to make 3 rug mugs.

The only other outing I have had recently wa a trip to see Jools Holland at the BIC-
brilliant night, one of the best live performances I have seen for a long time! Mel C guested, and was also excellent.

And here is my one concession to hanging xmas decorations up! These hearts I amde a few years ago and I always bring them out- still my favourites.

Well, Happy holidays to one and all, and heres to a very happy and healthy 2014.
